Christmas - Day 8

Happy Birthday, Jesus!

As we all know, the real reason we celebrate Christmas is to celebrate His birth!  Though we don't know the exact date He was born, the emperor Constintine, a follower of Jesus,  declared December 25th the Feast of the Nativity.  .God, our Father, sent His Son Jesus into the world - not to condemn it, but to redeem it.  He lived on earth as a man, died on the cross to pay for our sins, and rose again so that we might have life.  This is truly worth celebrating!

I'd like to invite you to celebrate this wonderful event by having a Happy Birthday, Jesus Party!  Send out invitations, decorate with streamers and balloons, play a game, do a craft - just like you would for any birthday party.  And, of course, you have to have a birthday cake!  Here are a couple of suggestions:
Prepare your cake mix according to the package directions.  Seperate the batter into two bowls and place some drops of red food coloring (representing Jesus' blood) in one and some drops of green food coloring (representing eternal life) in the other.  Stir it up well to completely color the batter, then place each 'colored' batter in two seperate cake pans.  Bake as directed.  Let cool and remove from pans.  Put several drops of yellow food coloring into the frosting (representing the Son of Righteousness) and mix well.  When the cake is done, place the red layer on the top and the green layer on the bottom.  Frost it with yellow frosting, place a large white candle in the center of it, (representing the fact that Jesus is the center of our lives) and have each person place a small candle around the perimeter of the cake (representing that our lives revolve around Jesus).
Another option is to make a Red Velvet cake.  This time frost it with white frosting and explain that the red cake represents the blood of Jesus which was shed for us on the cross to take away our sins.  The white frosting represents what we learn from Isaiah 1:18 'though our sins be as scarlet they shall be white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool.'
Jesus, through His shed blood, takes away our sins and makes us clean and pure in Him.

Be sure to sing Happy Birthday to Jesus!

I'll share some more ideas for this party tomorrow.  Have a great day....and plan your party!  Enjoy!

Blessings.
