Christmas - #4

Lights on the Christmas Tree

Don't you love the glow and sparkle that comes from the lights on your Christmas Tree?
Tradition has it that Martin Luther was walking home one wintery evening in the early  1500's and was overcome by the beauty he saw as the starlight shown in the dark of night and seemed to twinkle on the branches of the evergreen trees.  This was something he wanted to capture for his family to see, so he chopped down an everygreen tree and placed it in the family's living area.  Wanting to recreate the scene he had seen earlier, he took candles he collected from his home and placed them on the tree making the little tree seem to dance with twinkling lights.
This account can be used to share the truth that Jesus is the Light of the world.  Just as the world is sinful and dark, the light of Jesus shines bright and offers light to all who will come to Him.  In John 8:12  He says, "I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness but will have the Light of life."  This would be a great memory verse for your family to learn.   Enjoy!
Blessings.
